One Rec is a screen recorder with a built-in editor: stop recording and the take opens on a timeline, ready for trims, zooms and captions.
The timeline is region-based. You lay zooms, trims, annotations, masks and camera layouts over a single recording, then move or resize each one. There's no clip splitting or reordering, so if you need to cut several takes together, a multi-track editor is still the right tool.
Auto-zoom and Smart Trim give you a first draft. Zooms land on your clicks and typing, and Smart Trim suggests cuts for pauses, plus filler words and retakes once you've added captions. Shortcuts keep it quick: Z adds a zoom, A an annotation, M a mask, Space plays and ⌘E exports.

Zooms, trims, annotations, masks and camera layouts sit as regions over one recording. Move or resize any of them, and undo with ⌘Z.

Auto-zoom you can edit
Zooms are placed on your clicks and typing with a Subtle, Balanced or Energetic preset and one of six depth steps from 1.25× to 5×. Change or delete any of them.

Smart Trim suggestions
One Rec suggests cuts for long pauses, and for filler words, repeated words and retakes once you've generated captions. You accept the ones you want.

Captions, annotations and masks
Burn in local Whisper captions, add text, arrows, shapes and images, and mask anything private. A local scan suggests masks for keys, passwords and emails.

Export from the same window
MP4 (H.264 or HEVC), ProRes MOV or GIF at 24, 30 or 60 fps. Up to 720p with a small logo on Free, 1080p on Creator and 4K on Pro.

Does One Rec have a video editor?
Yes. Every recording opens in a timeline editor where you add zooms, trims, captions, annotations, masks and camera layouts, then export from the same window.
Can I split clips or combine several recordings?
No. The timeline works on one recording at a time, with regions laid over it. To cut several takes together, export them and use a multi-track editor.
Do I need a separate editing app?
For a single screen recording, usually not: trims, zooms, captions and export all happen in One Rec. For projects built from many clips, you'll still want a full editor.
