Screen recorder · Captions
Captions, transcribed on your computer.
One Rec is a screen recorder with captions built in. Whisper transcribes locally in 17 languages with word-level timing, and the captions are burned into your export.

Why One Rec
This screen recorder with captions transcribes on your computer, so getting subtitles doesn't mean uploading your audio. Captions are burned into the video in one of three styles.
On first use you download a Whisper model once: Fast (about 140 MB), Balanced (about 510 MB) or Accurate (about 1.1 GB). After that, captions work offline in 17 languages plus auto-detect, with timing for every word.
If you need SRT or VTT files for YouTube or a course platform, the onerec command-line tool writes them from the same transcript on macOS and Linux.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
How accurate are the captions?
They come from Whisper. Accurate gives the best results and Fast is the quickest. You can fix any line in the editor before you export.
Do I need internet for captions?
Only once, to download the model (about 140 MB to 1.1 GB). After that, transcription runs offline and your audio isn't uploaded anywhere.
Can I export SRT or VTT files?
Not from the editor, where captions are burned into the video. On macOS and Linux, the onerec CLI writes SRT or VTT from the same transcript: run onerec transcript with --format srt or --format vtt.
Press record.
Free for macOS, Windows and Linux, with no time limit on recordings.
