One Rec is a screen recorder for developers with a CLI: a coding agent reads a take's transcript and proposes the edit, then you review it in the app.
The onerec tools install on macOS and Linux. onerec inspect writes an agent bundle for a recording, onerec apply loads the agent's edit, and onerec render outputs an MP4 without touching the original. onerec transcript writes SRT, VTT, plain text or JSON.
On screen, the keyboard overlay shows the Cmd and Ctrl shortcuts you use. A local privacy scan reads each recording for API keys, .env values, private keys, passwords and emails, then suggests masks. GIF export fits straight into a pull request or README.

How do coding agents edit a recording?
Run onerec inspect on a recording to write a bundle with its transcript. Claude Code, Codex or another agent writes its proposed cuts, zooms and titles into that bundle, and onerec apply loads them into the project. You review the edit in One Rec and keep it or revert it. The CLI installs on macOS and Linux.
Can I export GIFs for GitHub?
Yes. Export a GIF and drop it into a README, issue or pull request, where GitHub plays it inline.
Does One Rec work on Linux?
Yes, on x64, as an AppImage, .deb or .rpm. Recording works on X11 only; Wayland isn't supported yet. There are no ARM builds for Linux.
Can One Rec hide secrets in my recording?
The privacy scan runs on your computer, reads the text in your recording and suggests masks for API keys, .env values, private keys, passwords and emails. You confirm each mask, so check the result before you share.
